You can make a valuable contribution as a transport volunteer, delivering cats to the clinic and returning them to a holding place after surgery. We are currently using multiple vets in our area and in Humble. In Humble, we are able to take many cats at one time, but in our local vets, it is usually limited to two cats at each appointment. The trip to Humble requires an early rise to get cats, going to Humble and staying there all day, and bringing cats back to a caregiver that night. Not an easy day, but worth the amount of cats we can get done there. For this trip, you need a vehicle that will take 10 cats at a time.
The local vets, so far, are in Livingston, Cold Springs, or Onalaska. You usually will take then in one day. They may or may not come home on that day, but you will know before you take them in what day to pick them up.
There are a number of housecleaning and safety issues to transporting cats.
