HAVAHART TRAP

Posted on March 3, 2022April 6, 2022 By tnrprogram No Comments on HAVAHART TRAP

The standard Hav-A-Hart trap is pretty common.  Here, in the rural area of my county, a lot of people own at least one.  They are good for trapping annoying critters and taking them out to the countryside instead of in your garden (smile).

THE PROS: Some people already have one or two, so no need to go out and buy them.  They are large enough to handle even the fattest of kitty cats.  They are definitely sturdy enough to handle a feisty cat and easy to set.  The ‘gate’ locks in place well so it thwarts escapees from getting out.  Once properly set, they are hard for a slight bump of the cage to trigger them.

THE CONS:  The single handle is metal and with a heavy cat in the trap, that handle can hurt.  Even the two metal handle ones are tough on your hands. There are some addon straps that could help with that.  They are a pain in the butt for feeding a cat and putting in and changing a pee pad.  The gate, once closed, takes up a large part of the trap and that does not leave a lot of room for a large cat and food.  Some of the feisty kitties will easily pull any cloth cover into the trap because the squares are large enough for them to do that.  Cleaning them, with the cat inside, is a hard.
