Pumpkin was born on March 5, 2022 from a feral Mom. He was left there until I had him neutered on 6/6/2022. He was neutered, give an Rabies vaccine and FVRCP vaccine by Texas Litter Control. I took him into my home shortly before that when I saw how he was struggling in the community and wanted human attention. I was not sure it would work out because I have always kept my cats indoors. There was a chance that I would need to take him back.
It has been a journey that I would not recommend for people who are not willing to deal with problems. It is not unusual for him to jump on me in the middle of the night, lick me, sometimes kissing my lips, and when I pet him, he bites me. My hands and arms have a number of healing cuts.
I have to remove him from the counter tops. I never know when he is going to be lovey and when he is going to be in attack mode. He dumps his water, so I have to put it in the shower for him. He sometimes plays with his dry food and gets it all over the floor.
Last night I got him some ‘calming treats’ and followed the directions. I finally got a good night of sleep. I now know how others feel when they bring ferals into their homes. It takes a lot to deal with them but I am praying that eventually his habits will diminish with time. At the very least, the ‘attack mode’.
