The 30LTD TruCatch trap is a totally different style from the standard ‘gate traps’.
THE PROS: The first thing is that if you are going to have a cat in a trap for a while before neutering, this is the trap you might consider your ‘go to’ trap. It is easy to get a pee pad and food and water cups inside, through the easy lift up back door. If you lift it just part of the way up, you can easily do this without the cat escaping on you. I like to fold the pee pad a little on the leading front, slip it in, and then wait for the cat to come toward the back and flip the pad forward. These traps are covered in a heavy paint that is easy to clean off.
THE CONS: One thing I do not like about it is the way you have to set it. If you do not do it just right, the slightest bump from a cat on the outside of the trap will drop the door down. So, you have to watch it if you are doing a group of cats because, inevitably, one cat, roaming around, will bump it. It does not leave a lot of room for larger cats. They will knock over their food and water cups just moving around a little.
